PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving data communication speed for I/O data without reprogramming an optimized data connection packet. SOLUTION: The optimized connection packet can be communicated over a connection as a part of a connected messaging system used to ensure highly reliable network communication. The need for higher data speeds for some I/O modules may be accommodated through a second connection when the second redundant connection is opened as a part of the optimized data connection packet. In this way, higher data speeds can be provided without resetting the optimized data connection packet or changing the use of the data by the industrial control program. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
