摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device having an excellent electroluminescent characteristics and running durability. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device has at least a light emission layer and an electron injection promotion layer adjacent on the negative pole side of the light emission layer between a pair of electrodes. The light emission layer contains an electroluminescent material, while the electron injection promotion layer contains an electron transport material expressed by a general expression (A-1). The electron injection promotion layer has a thickness of 3 nm or less, and the electron transport material expressed by the general expression (A-1) has an electron affinity larger than that of the electroluminescent material. In the general expression (A-1), Z<SP>A1</SP>represents a group of atoms necessary for forming a nitrogen-contained heterocycle, L<SP>A1</SP>represents a linking group, and n<SP>A1</SP>is an integer of 2 or above.
