A method and an apparatus for washing and cleaning a bar shaped material are provided to wash and clean a bar shaped material such as an aluminum bar by spraying cleaning solution to the bar shaped material to be washed with high pressure, and to finish surfaces smoothly by making the bar shaped material vibrate while passing a hard-metal guide. A method for washing and cleaning a bar shaped material effectively includes a step(S110) of spraying alkali solution on outer surface of a bar shaped material, a step(S120) of spraying water to rinse sprayed alkali solution remaining on outer surface of the bar shaped material, a step(S130) of spraying acid solution to neutralize the alkali solution remaining on outer surface, a step(S140) of spraying water to remove acid solution sprayed to neutralize the alkali solution, a step of performing surface finish to grind the surface of a bar by making the bar vibrate and passing through a hard-metal guide.
