PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging lens which can secure telecentricity and obtain good resolution by sufficiently correcting various aberrations, in spite of small size and reduced wight, and to provide an image pickup apparatus equipped with the imaging lens. SOLUTION: The imaging lens includes, in order from an object side to an image surface side; a first lens 2 as a meniscus lens with a convex surface facing the object side, having positive power; a diaphragm 3; a second lens 4 as a meniscus lens with a convex surface facing the image surface side, having negative power; and a third lens 5 as a meniscus lens with a convex surface facing the object side, having negative power. The imaging lens satisfies expressions of -130≤f<SB>2</SB>/f1≤-6 and 0.8≤f<SB>1</SB>/fl≤1 (wherein fl: focal length of the whole lens system, f<SB>1</SB>: focal length of the first lens, and f2: focal length of the second lens 4).
