PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression molding method for preforms, which reduces a variation in the amount of melting resin blocks in a long cycle to enable a reduction in the variation of the outside dimension of the preforms. SOLUTION: The compression molding method for preforms comprises a process of pushing out a molten resin material by an extruder 11, a process of cutting the molten resin material pushed out by the extruder 11 by a cutting mechanism 30 to make a melting resin block 12, and a process of throwing the melting resin block 12 in a compression molding mold 14 of a preform molding machine 15. Next, the melting resin block 12 thrown in the compression molding mold 14 is compression-molded and molded as a preform 17. A measuring device 19 measures physical features of the preform 17 to control a throughput rate of the melting resin material from the extruder 11 on the basis of the measured results.
