PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound emission and pickup device capable of automatically measuring the interval with an adjacently installed sound emission and pickup device. SOLUTION: The sound emission and pickup device 1 connected another sound emission and pickup device through a connection cable emits an installation interval investigation sound (so) and detects an installation interval investigation signal (ds) received through the connection cable from the other sound emission and pickup device having received the installation interval investigation sound (so). The sound emission and pickup device 1 calculates the installation interval with the other sound emission and pickup device on the basis of the time from the emission of the installation interval investigation sound (so) to the detection of the installation interval investigation signal (ds). The sound emission and pickup device 1 calculates a sound emission and pickup azimuth angle determining its sound emission and pickup range from the installation interval, and sets it to itself.
