<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily retrieve an image including a face of a designated person from a plurality of images to be retrieved by simplifying the above processing. <P>SOLUTION: The overall image of an object is photographed, and a face image including a face region detected by dynamically changing the driving range of an image pickup element is photographed, and the overall image and the face image are stored in association with each other. Photographic conditions are adjusted so that the fixed picture quality, direction and size of the face image can be obtained regardless of environmental conditions in photographing, and the face image is processed after photographing.
