PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact fishing reel excellent in clutch switching operability. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the fishing reel in which an operation member 44 for moving a clutch-connecting member 41 in an axial direction to switch and control a driving route for transmitting a power to a spool 7 is disposed, is characterized by urging the operation member 44 with a spring 82 to move the clutch-connecting member 41 in a power-shutting state direction separating from a clutch-connecting portion 7h on the side of the spool 7 and operating a clutch-switching member 45 to move the operation member 44 against the urging force of the spring 82, thereby maintaining the power-transmitting state by forcibly engaging the clutch connection member 41 with the clutch-connecting portion 7h.
