<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elucidate the mechanism of wound-induced hair growth, to induce the hair growth based on the elucidated mechanism and to provide a substance capable of inducing the hair growth. <P>SOLUTION: It is found that an ASK1-deficient (ASK1<SP>-/-</SP>) mouse exhibits a remarkable delay in the wound-induced hair growth. Furthermore, it is found that the hair growth is induced even in both a WT (wild type) mouse and the ASK1<SP>-/-</SP>mouse when a cell itself of macrophage or a cytoplasm fraction of the macrophage is intracutaneously injected.
