A hood stay rod for a vehicle is provided to prevent injury of a worker as a hood being closed suddenly by strong wind by installing a fastening member at a cap member and fastening the stay rod to a fastening hole of a fender. A hood stay rod(51) for a vehicle comprises a cap member(3), a fastening member(6), and an operating unit. The cap member is assembled to a bottom surface of the hood stay rod, and has an extension unit(1) is formed at the bottom to be fastened to a fastening hole(52) of a fender. A through hole is formed at the cap member to vertical direction. The fastening member is placed at the bottom surface of the cap member. The fastening member has a rear surface fastening sill(4) at one part to prevent stay rod from being separated from the fastening hole and a bent unit(5) at the other end. The operating unit is protruded from one part of the cap member to fasten a front surface of the hood stay rod to the fastening hole of the fender as the fastening member moves to left side. The operating unit is conformed to the cap member and escaped from the fastening hole as the fastening member moves to right side by forming the bent part with the cap member.
