The invention relates to the use in human medicine of hydroxymatairesinol for prevention of cancers, non-cancer deceases, hormone dependent diseases and/or cardiovascular diseases. As a result, the level of enterolactone is increased or of another hydroxymatairesinol metabolite in a personÆs serum, thus preventing cancers, non-cancer deceases, hormone dependent diseases and/or cardiovascular diseases, based on the administration of hydroxymatairesinol. The invention relates also to pharmaceutical preparations, food additives and food products containing hydroxymatairesinol. |
