A plug type valve is provided to reduce the damages to components by securing a passing space of foreign materials with minimizing the deformation due to temperature increment. A plug type valve includes a valve plug(10), a guide bushing(20), and a sheet ring(30). The plug type valve controls a channel by a lifting operation by installing the valve plug on a connection passage(1c) to connect an inlet(1a) and an outlet(1b) of a body(1) in a vertical direction. The plug type valve supports the lifting operation by being installed at a top external circumference of the valve plug to be encompassed with the guide bushing. The plug type valve has the sheet ring inside of the body corresponding to expanded top and bottom plug units(11,12). The top portion of the valve plug and the guide bushing encompassing the top portion of the valve plug have cross-sections in a shape of polygon. A step is formed at an inner peripheral surface of the sheet ring to reduce a contact area between the top and bottom plug units to be lifted.
