PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity of battery manufacturing through improvement of fluidity of a gelatinous zinc negative electrode in a zinc alkaline battery of mercury-free and lead-free. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the gelatinous zinc negative electrode of a zinc alkaline battery consisting of zinc alloy powder of mercury-free and lead-free at least as a negative electrode metal active material, alkaline electrolyte solution, and a thickener for increasing viscosity of the alkaline electrolyte solution, the zinc alloy powder, the thickener and the alkaline electrolyte solution are mixed and then are stirred under a decompressed state to be degassed, and next, the mixture is stirred with gas blown in to adjust a content of the gas, or it is further stirred under a decompressed state as need be to adjust a content of the gas. In such a manufacturing method, the gas content is set within a range of 1 to 20% in a volume ratio, whereby, fluidity of the negative electrode is improved without degrading a discharge capacity, and productivity can be improved.
