<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wasteful illumination, and illuminate the front side of a vehicle appropriately according to the orientation of the face. <P>SOLUTION: A face-facing camera 12 images the face of a vehicle driver, and a CPU 25 recognizes the driver's face and determines the orientation of the face. The CPU 25 controls a light control section 18 so as to perform illumination by bending lights 17-1 to 17-4 in association with the orientation of the driver's face. The CPU 25 acquires positional information on a crossing provided with a traffic light, information on the current position of the vehicle, information on a vehicle speed, information on braking, and information on a gear shift position respectively from a map database 19, a GPS receiver 16, a vehicle speed sensor 13, a brake switch 14, and a shift sensor 15. When the CPU 25 determines based on these pieces of information that the vehicle is stopped near the crossing provided with the traffic light, the CPU 25 decides to prohibit illumination by the bending lights 17-1 to 17-4 and sends signals for prohibiting the turning-on of the lights to a light control section 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
