The device has clamping tapes (2.1, 2.2) provided at a carrying device and connected with each other by a hinge (3). A part of a quick clamping device is attached to free ends of the clamping tapes. The part of the quick clamping device has a hook (7) cooperating with a fang hook (8) of other parts of the quick clamping device. The fang hook is fixed at a snap lever (11) in a longitudinally changeable manner. The snap lever enlarges a joint connection with the clamping tapes. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a device for lifting and transporting a cylindrical body i.e. gas cylinder.
