PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous steel plate web bridge used for constructing elevated roads or bridges and a method of constructing the continuous steel plate web bridge. SOLUTION: This continuous steel plate web bridge is constructed by installing, between the bridge piers, the precast simple beam of steel-concrete compound structure in which a concrete upper flange and a concrete lower flange are connected to each other through steel plate webs. Lateral beams installed on the bridge piers are made of a cast-in-place concrete for continuously connecting the longitudinal beams and the lateral beams of the precast simple beam to each other. A prestress is introduced into the cast-in-place concrete in the longitudinal and lateral directions of the lateral beams by a tension cable. The continuous steel plate web bridge can be reasonably designed by forming it continuously and providing a prestress to a predicted bending moment in the longitudinal and lateral directions beforehand by the tension cable.
