PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IP communication system monitoring device that eliminates the need for a user to initially handle trouble which may occurring daily to an IP communication system, and enables the user to monitor the minimum necessary states of home equipment without reference to user's skill (people of all ages and both sexes) and speedily report the trouble when unable to remove the trouble through initial handling. SOLUTION: An IP communication system comprising a line terminating device 3 connected to an optical cable 2 of an optical communication network and an IP router 5 connected to the line terminating device 3 to connect a WAN and a LAN to each other is provided with a monitoring function, and resets the line terminating circuit 3 and IP router 5 according to a predetermined procedure if a fault display signal indicating fault display of the line terminating device 3 or IP router 5 is generated and generates a predetermined guidance if the fault display signal is still generated after the resetting.
