The gasifier has a cylindrical housing shell (3) in which wastes and/or garbage to be gassed are placed, degassed and gassed by melting fixed residues, while released raw gas rising upward is extracted. The shell concentric to the gasifier, and a guide cylinder (9) provided with radial openings (11) are arranged inside a gasification area of the gasifier such that material to be gassed is within the cylinder and slides downward, when a cylindrical gas guiding channel (10) is formed between the cylinder and shell. The formed gas enters into the channel and drains upward.
