A communication terminal and a method for protecting privacy of a communication terminal are provided to set urgency by using a privacy protection mode and connect a call only in an emergency so that a user can freely take a rest or concentrate on a work within a range in which his privacy is not invaded. A reception terminal receives a call from an origination terminal(S200). The reception terminal checks whether privacy protection has been set(S210), and transmits an announcement message to the caller(S220). The reception terminal receives an emergency call request signal from the origination terminal(S230). A controller checks whether an emergency call reception has been set(S240). If the emergency call reception has been set, the reception terminal is connected with the origination terminal for call communication(S250).
