An arrangement for opening and closing a sowing furrow in the ground is disclosed. The arrangement (50) comprises a furrow opener (20), with a pair of discs (52), arranged at an angle (a) relative to each other. Each disc (52) has an internal side (58) and an external side (60), whereby the inner sides (58) face each other and the external sides (60) face away from each other. Each disc (52) has a leading edge (54) and a trailing edge (56) relative to the direction of travel. A furrow closer comprises a pair of depth-adjuster/closing wheels (22), whereby each wheel (22) has an internal side (62) and the internal sides (62) are arranged to face each other and positioned adjacent to the corresponding external sides (60) of the discs (52). Each wheel (22) has a leading edge (64) and a trailing edge (66), whereby the leading edge (64) is arranged between the leading edge (54) and the trailing edge (56) of the corresponding disc (52) and the trailing edge (66) is positioned behind the trailing edge (56) of the corresponding disc (52), relative to the direction of travel (44).
