PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based ink composition for a ballpoint pen, which has a smooth and light writing condition of a pen even after the passage of a long period of time and provides an excellent holograph free from line cut and blur. SOLUTION: The water-based ink composition for a ballpoint pen comprises at least water, an aqueous organic solvent, an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant and a synthetic resin particle.
