PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument device with the appearance quality of gradation enhanced. SOLUTION: This measuring instrument equipped with a plate-like light guide body 11 equipped with a design part 111, a background plate 9 disposed behind this guide body 11 with a space part S in between, and a light source 4 illuminating the design part 111 by causing light to be incident on the guide body 11, while projecting light onto the front of the background plate 9 through a reflecting layer 114 provided on the backside of the guide body 11. The background plate 9 comprises a light-emitting surface LS emitting light so that light emission luminance changes along the plate surface direction, based on the intensity of the projected light from the reflecting layer 114.
