A nanoparticle-modified polyisocyanate is provided to impart viscosity stability and stability against agglomeration during storage to a polyisocyanate, and to obtain non-turbid coating from the polyisocyanate. A nanoparticle-modified polyisocyanate is obtained by the method comprising the steps of: (i) reacting a polyisocyanate with an alkoxysilane represented by the formula of Q-Z-SiXaY3-a (wherein Q is an isocyanate-reactive group; X is a hydrolyzable group; Y groups are the same or different alkyl groups; Z is a C1-C12 alkylene group; and a is an integer of 1-3); and (ii) incorporating inorganic particles that have an average particle size less than 200 nm as measured by dynamic light scattering in dispersion and are optionally surface-modified, through a dispersion process.
