PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the occupation rate of a winding in an axial gap type rotary electric machine. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine 1a is provided with a piece of field magneton 10a having a magnetic pole surface exhibiting magnetic poles alternately changing in a peripheral direction and perpendicular to a rotary shaft 91a, and a piece of armature 20a opposing the magnetic pole surface of the field magneton 10a with a gap sandwiched in the direction of the rotary shaft 91a. Also, the armature 20a as a stator is provided with a back yoke 21a, winding teeth 22a, non-winding teeth 23a, a winding 24a and a wide iron core 25a. In the armature 20a, the winding 24a is wound only around the winding teeth 22a, and not wound around the non-winding teeth 23a. The six winding teeth 22a each have a columnar shape, and the six non-winding teeth 23a each have a gourd pillar shape. The winding teeth 22a is provided with a "recess" corresponding to the "protrusion" of the winding teeth 22a in a range opposing the two winding teeth adjacent to each other in a circumferential direction.
