PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support for a hollow porous membrane suppressed in contraction and expansion properties and hardly collapsing, a method for manufacturing the support with good productivity, the hollow porous membrane reduced in the thickness irregularity and flaw of a porous membrane layer and a method for manufacturing the hollow porous membrane. SOLUTION: The support 10 is composed of a cylindrical braided strand 12 formed by subjecting yarns to circular braiding and heat-treated at a temperature t(°C) within a range represented by the formula (1). Tm-80°C≤t<Tm (wherein Tm is the melting temperature (°C) of a material of the yarn) and the manufacturing method formed by subjecting yarns to circular braiding and of the support 10 has a process for heat-treating the cylindrical braided strand 12 at the temperature t(°C) within the range represented by the formula (1). The hollow porous membrane has the support 10 and the porous membrane layer provided on the outer peripheral surface of the support 10 and is manufactured by coating the outer peripheral surface of the support 10 with a film forming raw solution containing a material of the porous membrane layer and a solvent and coagulating the coated raw solution to form the porous membrane layer.
