<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the slippage of a primary sheave and a V belt in deceleration. <P>SOLUTION: This continuously variable transmission 100 has a target value setting section 140 setting a control target value in the control of a control device 107. In the target value setting section 140, a normal mode 141, a kick-down mode 142 set on the lower side than the normal mode 141 and a restriction value 143 set in a throttle fully closed state are provided. The control device 107 controls the continuously variable transmission 100 based on the kick-down mode 142 provided in the target value setting section 140 according to an operation of a kick-down operator 132, and is characterized by controlling the gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission 100 so as not to exceed the low side restriction value 143 provided in the target value setting section 140 in the throttle fully closed state.
