<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus, an information processing method, and a program for the same, enabling reduction of power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: When an FET 2 is turned on, supply of a power Vcc to a sensor 3 is started, and a signal indicating a detection result is input from the sensor 3 to a GPI terminal 12 of an MCU 1. After the supply of power Vcc to the sensor 3 is started, the MCU 1 is turned to a sleep state, and the state is maintained until the sensor 3 outputs a normal detection result. When the sensor 3 starts outputting the normal detection result, the MCU 1 is restored upon interruption by a timer, and sampling is made for the output from the sensor 3. When sampling is performed, the supply of power Vcc to the sensor 3 is stopped with the MCU 1 turned to the sleep state.
