A membrane-electrode assembly for a fuel cell is provided to prevent a electrode substrate from being deformed or compressed by a pressurizing process, and to facilitate mass transfer through the pores of the electrode substrate, thereby improving the quality of a fuel cell. A membrane-electrode assembly for a fuel cell comprises: an anode(20') and a cathode(20) facing to each other; and a polymer electrolyte membrane(50) interposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein at least one of the anode and the cathode comprises an electrode substrate(40,40') including pores, and a catalyst layer(30,30') formed in the electrode substrate, wherein the pores in the electrode substrate is filled with a pore-maintaining polymer(42). The pore-maintaining polymer is selected from the group consisting of poly (meth)acrylic acid, polyvinyl alcohol, polyalkylene glycol, aliphatic polyester, and copolymers and blends thereof. |
