An epoxy resin composition, an epoxy resin used in the resin composition, a paint composition containing the resin composition, and a coating forming method using the paint composition are provided to improve the workability and low temperature curing property of the coating composition and to enhance water fastness. An epoxy resin composition comprises 10-80 wt% of an epoxy resin which is prepared by reacting at least one material selected from the group consisting of cardol, cardanol, anacardic acid and alkyl cardol and a haloalkylene oxide in a ratio of 1:1 to 1:15 by mol; and 20-90 wt%of at least one epoxy compound selected from the group consisting of a bisphenol diglycidyl ether oligomer and a triglycidyl ether compound.
