A receiver and a method for watching data broadcasting on the same are provided to selectively hear one of audio for video or audio for data provided from a broadcasting station in the course of viewing the data broadcasting. A receiver includes a user interface unit(132), a controller(100), a tuner(102), a transfer stream processor, an audio switch, a display module(138), and a speaker(137). The user interface unit provides a command signal for selecting a data broadcasting channel and a command signal for selecting audio selected by the user. The controller provides control signals according to the command signals. The tuner tunes transfer streams of the data broadcasting channel according to the control signals. The transfer stream processor processes and converts the transfer streams of the channel into audible audios for video and data, a displaying video and a displaying data broadcasting signal. The audio switch outputs one of audible audios for video and data according to the control signals. The display module displays the video and data on one screen. The speaker outputs the audible audio output from the audio switch.
