PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting the defective conveyance of the nose part of a slab in a slab edging press equipment by which the defective conveyance of the nose part of the slab can be detected at an early stage in the slab edging press equipment and by which proper treatment is made possible.

SOLUTION: The defective conveyance of the nose part of the slab 1 is detected by combining the rotational amount of a feed roll 6, the driving output of the feed roll 6 and the height position of an upper hold roll 3.
