PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical shaft pump support structure capable of restraining a bearing having a small bearing clearance from being damaged by the reaction of water. SOLUTION: This vertical shaft pump 1 has a casing 2, a vertically extending main shaft 3 arranged in a vertical pipe part 2a of the casing 2, an impeller 5 arranged in a lower end part of the main shaft 3, and a bearing 7 supporting the main shaft 3. Pipes 9 to 12 are connected to a horizontal pipe part 2b of the casing 2, and seawater W is made to flow in the pipes 9 to 12 from a delivery vent part 2b of the casing 2 by pumping up the seawater W, by rotating the impeller 5 in response to rotation of the main shaft 3. A protective stay 15 is arranged between a stand 13 and the vertical shaft pump 1 so as to be opposed to the reaction F5 of the seawater W flowing in the pipes 9 to 12, and the vertical shaft pimp 1 is supported by the stand 13 via this protective stay 15.
