The invention specifies a wheel-chair access in the region of the driver's seat in passenger transport vehicles, especially buses, having a basic platform arranged behind the opening of the access doors in the vehicle, a lifting/lowering device by which the basic platform and any wheel-chair or the like present thereon can be lifted and lowered, and, where appropriate, with a step which is arranged above the basic platform and can be moved out of the movement path of the basic platform. At the same time, the lifting/lowering device is housed in a single column which is fastened in the vehicle in the region of the limitation of the basic platform adjacent to the vehicle front and in which the basic platform is moveably guided on one side.
