This invention provides a process for producing a composite material comprising a thermoplastic resin as a matrix reinforced with electroconductive fibers. The production process can produce a composite material which has a small percentage void and good mechanical properties such as good bending strength and flexural modulus. The production process is a process for producing a composite material comprising electroconductive fibers impregnated with a thermoplastic resin. The production process comprises the steps of (A) depositing a thermoplastic resin onto electroconductive fibers and (B) applying microwaves to the fibers to generate heat to impregnate the resin into the fibers.
