PREAMBLE DETECTION AND SYNCHRONIZATION IN OFDMA WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

An embodiment of the invention is a technique for preamble detection and synchronization. A symbol correlation of a sequence of symbols is computed i n a correlation window using one of a time-domain correlation and a frequenc y-domain correlation. The sequence of symbols is received in an orthogonal f requency division multiple access (OFDMA) wireless communication. A symbol i s verified from the symbol correlation. The symbol is one of a preamble symb ol and a data symbol.
