A method for controlling an air conditioner is provided to linearly control the rotational speed of an outdoor ventilator according to the difference between a desired temperature and an internal temperature. An air conditioner includes an indoor unit, an outdoor ventilator, and a BLDC(Brushless) motor. The outdoor ventilator includes a BLDC motor operating according to the load of the indoor unit. The controller controls the BLDC motor. The controller linearly controls the rotational speed of the BLDC motor according to the load of the indoor unit. The air conditioner includes a plurality of indoor units. The controller determines the rotational speed of the BLDC motor. The controller increases/decreases the rotational speed of the BLDC motor according to an outdoor temperature.
