A light emitting display device and a driving method thereof are provided to obtain compensation effect by selectively executing half toning on a low gray scale region which is not represented by current compensation. A light emitting display device includes a gamma unit(110), a selection converter(130), a driver(150), and a display panel. The gamma unit generates a gamma register based on gamma values and converts the gray scale of data signals corresponding to a varied gamma curve according to the gamma values. The selection converter executes half toning on the data signals in a whole gray region of the data signals according to the gamma register or truncation for cutting a part of the data signals or half toning on low gray scale regions of the data signals. The driver outputs the data signals which are supplied from the selection converter, with scan signals. The display panel includes light emitting diodes formed at cross sections of data and scan lines so as to represent images by the data and scan signals from the driver.
