<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain good encoding efficiency, and to prevent image deterioration. <P>SOLUTION: When an intra-refresh period comprises six pictures, namely, when one frame is divided into six pictures (images) and intra-refreshing is performed in order, an encoding device inserts an area obtained by equally dividing one picture into six is inserted as an intra-refresh area and performs encoding. Then the encoding device monitors whether an image is an alternative image generated by replacement with an image small in data amount or skip image in an encoding state regarding encoding. When the image is an alternative image, the encoding device inserts, based upon the intra-refresh period, an intra-refresh area which should be inserted into the detected alternative image into a next image together with an intra-refresh area to be inserted into the next image which is not an alternative image to perform control to vary intra-refresh areas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
