PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminescent element having high luminous efficiency and excellent durability, and to provide a compound suitable for the luminescent element. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element includes at least one organic layer having an luminescent layer between a pair of electrodes, and at least a kind of compound having a specific carbazole structure and at least a kind of complex system phosphorescence light emitting material having quadridentate ligand are contained in the organic layer.
