PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector smoothly positioning a projection area without adversely influencing an obstacle in the projection area even if the obstacle exists in the projection area during preparation. SOLUTION: The projector 1 is equipped with: a projector main body 2 having an optical system including laser beam sources 10R, 10G and 10B emitting a laser beam and a housing 3 in which the optical system is housed; and a light reducing member (light reducing lens cap 6) provided to retreat from the optical path of the laser beam at a position where the laser beam is emitted from the projector main body 2 and reducing the laser beam.
