The device (1) has a battery and a terminal clamp (2) directly connectable to a terminal of the battery. An electronic unit (14) is provided for determining battery state variables. The terminal clamp has two separate parts, which are connected with a separate electrical resistor unit (3). The resistor unit is formed proportionately from manganin. End areas of the parts of the terminal clamp adjacent to the resistor unit are hot-dipped in an area-wise manner. A tin layer provided on the resistor unit is carried in an area of a circulating slot.
