<p>Disclosed is a method for producing a fatty acid alkyl ester, which enables to produce a fatty acid alkyl ester with high yield without requiring a separate step for removing glycerol. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a fatty acid alkyl ester, which is characterized in that a fatty acid alkyl ester is produced by reacting a triglyceride expressed as CH2OCOR1CHOCOR2CH2OCOR3 with an alkyl carbonate expressed as R4OCOOR5 at a temperature of not less than 150°C.</p>
