The device has a changeable weight set (3) vertically movably arranged at a stand (1) by a rope (9) and a handle (10), which is actuatable by a coach and is attached at a free end of the rope. An additional module engages at the set, and produces additional downward acting force during lowering of the set, where the module has an electromotor (11), a reduction gear unit (12), a sensor device (13), a rope drum (14), a deflection pulley (15) and a frequency converter (18). The force is determined, such that the force is increased in a middle area of a lowering path of the set.
