PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of determining asbestos that can instantaneously and readily determine the presence of asbestos at a work site. SOLUTION: Acid treatment solution of a sample is neutralized by alkaline solution, a precipitation reaction reagent, made of ammonium salt solution and phosphate solution, is made to react with the neutralized solution, and magnesium ions contained in the sample are selectively precipitated, thus the presence of asbestos contained in the sample is determined.
