The safety device has a sensor i.e. gas sensor (2), arranged in a lower region of a housing (6) of an automatic teller machine (5) or vault. A protective mist blower (1) is provided, where the protective mist blower is triggered during the detection of an inflammable fluid e.g. gas such as butane and/or propane, by the sensor. The sensor is connected with a controller (3) of the protective mist blower via an alarm system.
