<p>A modular automatic transmission shifter is provided to differentiate shifter mechanisms against each other by forming the shifter mechanism with a base, a module shifter or a shifter lever assembly, a connecting pin, a shifter knob, and a shifter bezel or a cover. A shifter mechanism(10) comprises a housing, a yoke assembly having a shifter lever, and a gate cover secured to the housing and forming a slot. The shifter lever extends through the slot to define the shift path. The gate provides a gate profile and a secondary detent profile. The gate profile includes a plurality of grooves. The shifter mechanism includes a shift frame or a base(12), a module shifter or a shifter lever assembly(14), a connecting pin(16) for mounting the module shift at the shift base, a shifter knob(18), and a shifter bezel or a cover(20). The shifter base has holes(22) to mount the shifter base at the motor vehicle.</p> |
