Method for manufacturing structured bodies made of organic and mineral fertiliser components and structured body therefor

Production of structured fertilizing articles involves mixing fiber-containing organic components with mineral components; pressing the mixture with a hardener, so that (i) mineral salts are at least partially dissolved, (ii) salt ions are deposited on fiber crossing points, (iii) salt bridges are formed and (iv) a stable supporting structure, with cavities and/or spaces for undissolved salt crystals, is formed; forming pellets or granules; and cooling and/or drying. Production of structured fertilizing articles (SFA's) involves: (A) mixing organic fertilizing components (OFC's), containing organic fibers, with mineral fertilizing components (MFC's); (B) pressing the mixture while or after adding a liquid and/or powdered hardener, so that (i) salts in the MFC's are at least partially dissolved in residual water from the OFC's and any liquid hardener, (ii) salt ions are deposited on the fiber crossing points (and preferably also the fiber surfaces), (iii) salt bridges are formed and (iv) a stable supporting structure for the OFC's and MFC's is formed, with cavities and/or spaces between the fibers in which undissolved salt crystals are stored; (C) portioning and shaping the mixture, to give the SFA's in pellet or granule form; and (D) cooling and/or drying.
