A plasma display panel is provided to lessen an etched level of a protective layer by thickening a dielectric layer corresponding to a portion of the protective layer which is etched by ion collision at discharge. A first substrate(111) and a second substrate(121) are opposite to each other, and barrier ribs(130) are interposed between the first and second substrates to define discharge cells between the substrates. First electrodes are disposed in a cross direction between the first and second substrates, and second electrodes are disposed in a direction crossing the first electrodes. A first dielectric layer(115) is formed to cover the first electrodes, and a protective layer(116) is formed to cover a surface of the first dielectric layer which faces the second substrate. The first dielectric layer has a different thickness depending upon an etched level of the protective layer.
