摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent acicular metal lithium from precipitating on a surface of a negative electrode, and enhance electrochemical activity in order to increase capacity. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a negative electrode 9 having bond of silicon with nitrogen which lithium can be electrochemically inserted into and removed from, and having a silicon nitride compound as an active material containing carbon formed by pyrolytically decomposing silazane compounds belonging to inorganic polymer by heating treatment at 500-700&deg;C, a positive electrode 8 having a lithium compound as an active material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte.
