PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display (LCD) device in which the blur of a moving image due to temperature dependence of liquid crystal optical response is reduced. SOLUTION: In the LCD, a temperature detection part in an inverter circuit detects the temperature of an LCD panel and outputs a temperature signal of the liquid crystal corresponding to the temperature to a phase synchronous signal generation part. The phase synchronous signal generation part outputs the on/off timing signal of each fluorescent lamp disposed on each luminescent region to a lamp drive control part in the inverter circuit according to the vertical synchronizing signal from a display control device and the temperature signal of the liquid crystal from the temperature detection part. The lamp drive control part controls to turn on/off the fluorescent lamp of each luminescent region disposed on the rear surface of the LCD panel based on the timing signal. The timing signal of each luminescent region produced in the inverter circuit becomes a signal that is properly delayed the turn-on of each fluorescent lamp according to the temperature dependence of the liquid crystal optical response.
